The Fox and Hounds Inn at 33 Steep Hill, Lincoln, c 1900 or a few years earlier, when the publican was Mary Clayton, my maternal gt grandmother. The building is now Browns Pie Shop and Restaurant, and during the period as the F&H, it was sometime known as the Bessy Bedlam. named after a Lincolnshire bred racehorse which won several races in the early 1820s, but failed in the classic St Leger.
