History

C18 to C19; shown on Tithe Plan of 1840. Enclosed gardens detached from the house appear to be a feature of Llantwit Major and this is the most notable example (see also Boverton House).

Exterior

D-shaped garden enclosed by limestone rubble walls with rough coping about 2m in height. Entrance in north-west side between square stone gate piers in centre. A further taller stone pier with flat coping at north-east end of north-west wall; this is a more formal lenght of wall about 1.25m in height facing directly to the farmhouse.

Reasons for Listing

Included for group value with West Farm and as a fine example of a detached walled garden in an urban context.
