Public house. Late C15 with later alterations. Timber-frame
with plastered infill; some roughcast brick; old tile roof
with brick rear stacks. Single-unit plan plus cross-wing, and
carriageway to left end with attic over.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. Plastered range to right
has exposed wall plate; wing to left has exposed wall studs
and jettied gabled first floor with close-studded framing;
tall carriage entrance to left end has close studding to
returns and to attic, which has flat joists.
Entrance to right of centre has C20 plank door in architrave;
carriageway entrance has paired plank gates.
Ground floor has 2 canted bay windows with small-paned
casements with iron opening casements, that to left with
cornice, that to right with flat roof extended as canopy over
entrance; first floor has gabled dormer with 3-light
small-paned casement; 4-light transomed projecting window with
leaded glazing to cross-wing; 2-light small-paned casement
with iron opening casement to attic to left. Brick rear wings.
