Row of 4 cottages. Early C19, in 3 builds: Nos 138 and 140 in
1812, and Nos 136 and 142 added at the ends c.1820; altered.
Brown and pink brick, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan, each
cottage single-fronted. Two storeys, a 4-window range, with
vertical joints to left and right of the centre pair. These
(Nos 138 and 140) have round-headed doorways and 3-light
horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars (pseudo
shutters to ground floor of No.140); No.136 has a round-headed
doorway and C20 3-light casements with glazing bars; No.142
has a square-headed doorway and recent casement windows with
heavy glazing bars and pseudo-shutters (pierced with little
hearts). Gable chimney to left, 3 ridge chimneys. Rear and
interior not inspected.
