II

Lodge to Woodhall Park (q.v.). c.1870 for Abel Smith. Yellow stock brick with stone dressings. Timber balcony. Slate mansard roof. In a French Classical Style. Rectangular on plan with projections from each face, larger to front and rear. One storey and attic. Steps up to entrance facing drive with part glazed door. Pedimented doorcase with Gibbs surround. Flanking tall single light small pane casements with gauged brick flat arched heads. Returns have three light casements with gauged brick flat arched heads. Continuous stone cornice with vase balustraded parapet projecting on modillion brackets to left. Extending across entrance front and returns is a covered balcony, three trellissed bays to each side, projecting centre on returns, with a cusped head. French windows onto balcony on short ends. Mansard roof has rodge parallel with entrance front, segmental pediments over balcony in shallow gables. Central stack with moulded stone base and cap, four separate shafts. To rear an oval opening in a gable. Ground floor lean-to outshut.
