Downloads

As part of the development of the site in order to make the data more accessible for reasearchers and open data editors, we're adding downloads of some of the data in CSV format.

At the moment, this is still a work in progress (and, right now, there's only one file available). The downloads aren't versioned and there's no specific update schedule (although it will, eventually, be monthly). Please check back here for updates over the next few weeks as we add more data and make the system more robust.

All British Listed Buildings Entries

This is a spreadsheet which links entry IDs on this website to the entry IDs at the three heritage authorities which publish the data, and, where we have it, the Wikidata ID and Wikipedia page associated with the entry. The fields in the download are:

  1. British Listed Buildings ID
  2. Heritage Authority Name (either Historic England, Historic Environment Scotland or Cadw)
  3. Heritage Authority Listing ID - the ID used on the heritage authority's published data
  4. Heritage Authority Legacy ID (both Historic England and Historic Scotland have changed their ID system since we started the site, so, where known, the legacy ID is included here too)
  5. Listing Name
  6. Listing Grade
  7. Listing Latitude
  8. Listing Longitude
  9. Wikidata ID (where known)
  10. Wikipedia Page (where known)

This is only a subset of the data available for list entries; it's assumed that anyone using this download also has the downloads from the heritage authorities and can use those to extract the full data.

The Wikidata IDs and Wikipedia pages are a best effort match and are not guaranteed to be 100% correct. Wikipedia pages, in particular, can change as pages are added, deleted or renamed.

If you're using this data to create links to this site, you don't need to know the full individual URL for each entry. A URL in the form of https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/[nnnnnnnnn] where [nnnnnnnnn] is the nine-digit ID on this site (eg, 101081353) will automatically redirect to the full, SEO-friendly URL.
