This website uses Disqus to offer a comment facility on the website and to allow users to authenticate in order to upload photographs. We also collect some additonal information directly when you upload a photo.

What do we use this for?

Your public Disqus data, plus your name and website URL, are used to identify you to other users of the site, and to correctly attribute your comments and photographs.

Your email address is only used if we have any need to contact you about a photo you have uploaded. We often get emails asking for permission to re-use photographs submitted to this site. In some cases, this can be done under the Creative Commons licence by which all photographs are published. But, sometimes, the proposed use would not be covered by the licence. In that case, wwhere possible, we forward the re-use request to the contributor, so that you can make your own decision whether to permit it.

We do not add email addresses to any form of mailing list, or pass them on to third parties. We will only ever use your email address to contact you if necessary about a photograph you have submitted.

What is our lawful basis for processing this data?

For information publicly displayed, and the meta-data necessary in order to display it, our lawful basis is contract. Your contributions to this website are published under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence ("CC-BY"). In order to comply with this licence, we must display your name (and, if supplied, your website URL) along with your contributions so that other users know who has contributed them.

For your email address, our lawful basis is consent. Supplying your email address is optional, and we only store and use it if you consent to supplying it.

We do not currently have the facility for you to delete your own photographs from the site.
