Originally 3 large houses built about 1787 and called Spencer Terrace; now halls
of residence. 3 storeys and semi-basement. 14 windows in all. Red brick on painted
brick or rubble plinth. Single cemented pilaster in the centre has been removed
since previous survey. Modillion eaves cornice. Glazing bars missing. 2 porches
(a pair) up 7 steps with handrail, thin Doric columns, enriched entablature, semi-circular
fanlight and 6-panel moulded doors. The basement doors are under the steps. The
porch to the east house has been removed. Passage beneath either extremity of
terrace.
Nos 41 to 57 (odd), No 55A, Nos 65 to 71 (odd) and all the walls form a group.
