House, now 2 shops and office. C17, greatly altered. White-painted roughcast, but
with some timber framing exposed in left gable wall, red tile roof. Rectangular
single-depth 2-unit plan. Two low storeys and 2 bays; ground floor replaced by
shops; the 1st floor has 2 low 2-light casements under the eaves; chimney on
front slope of right-hand gable. The left gable wall has an inserted shop window
at ground floor and a large 4-light casement window breaking into the lower of
2 tiers of large framing: 3 rails and some studs of light scantling. The rear has
3 small 2-fight windows at 1st floor, including one horizontal sliding sash, but is
otherwise covered by modern additions. Interior: the 2nd bay has a large
chamfered spine beam and a small inglenook fireplace with a bressummer of re-
used oak; the original rear wall has a 2-light window with diamond-section iron
bars. Included for group value.
