Church. C12 and C13 extended in mid Cl9 and restored by Norman Shaw in 1885, (north aisle, west door and window). Flint with stone dressings, brick dressings to tower. Cruciform plan with central tower, 4 bay aisled and clerestoried nave (clerestory concealed by circular windows). Buttresses to south aisle; north aisle retains Romanesque doorway. (Photos NMR) and has external stack incorporating doorway. INTERIOR: 4 bay circular pier nave arcades with double chamfered arches; scissor brace roof to nave, stone rib vault with chamfered arches to crossing. Stone benches on north and south chancel walls; stone octagonal nave font; Jacobean reading desk and pulpit; C15 perpendicular rood screen with C19 arms on top. Monuments include: brass plate to Lucy Roper died 1614 in floor on south side of altar. South aisle wall: Little, died 1844, Grecian with mourning female figure by a pedestal with urn. Sir Edward Banks died 1835. Contractor of Public Works, Waterloo and Southwark Bridges represented either side of central niche containing bust. North Aisle: Ref. James Tattershall died 1784, grey and white marble urn in front of obelisk by R Westmacott Snr.
