Cottage, now offices. C16 or early C17 with early C20 shop front, restored in
c,1985. Timber framed,clad in colourwashed render on the first floor,shop fronts
below. Plain tiled roof with rebuilt stacks to left. Two storeys, three framed
bays with parallel range behind. Two leaded casement windows on the first floor
in architrave surrounds, canted bay shop fronts below with glazed door to centre.
Interior:- Parts of timber frame now visible on the ground floor include stopped
and chamfered spine beam,ground and first floor post framing with mortised and
tenoned rail, part of rear ground floor wall on north east. Timber frame partition
above in roof space. Roof of C16 - early C17 construction with side purlins and
windbraces. The only remaining cottage in former row of similar buildings in early
post-medieval suburb; sited near an important group of listed buildings on the
High Street.
