House, now private school. c1760 with late C19 wing and early C20 additions by Sir
Aston Webb to front and rear, further C20 additions to left. Red brick with hipped
slate roofs partly obscured by parapet. 2 storeys and attic in parapet storey with
plat band over ground floor, cornice over first floor and corner piers, rusticated on
the ground floor. Entrance front: L shaped with 7 glazing bar sash windows to first
floor right and one to first floor left on the end of a projecting, 4 bay wing.
Doubled,arched and panelled doors in projecting entrance bay under segmental head by
Sir Aston Webb(1911) to right. Stone dressed surround with Ionic pilasters supporting
flat hoos moulding over the door. Right hand return front: 3 bays with bow rising
through 2 storeys to left. Rear: centee 3 bay break under pediment with round window
in tympaneum. Central glazing bar sash window to first floor, flanking windows blocked.
Tripartite glazing bar sash windows in outer bays. Projecting stone loggia across
ground floor by Sir Aston Webb in 1903, on paired Ionic Columns, glazed to sides.
Urn finials in shell sockets to ends.
Interior: 2 storey entrance hall with midC18 staircase: Twisted balusters and curled
handrail. Venetian window style screen to right with Doric columns.
Music Room: coved ceiling, bow fronted musicians gallery to one end with rich modillion
cornice.
