Primary school. 'Hepworth Primary School, 1852' on a plaque on the front.
Enlarged 1872. Single-storey. In kidney flint with white brick rusticated
quoins and dressings. Roof with bands of fishscale slates alternating with
plain bands. High copings to gables with moulded corbels. 2 small projecting
wings on the west side, containing entrance lobbies. 2 white brick chimney
stacks with corbelled heads to shafts. The main schoolroom range has cross
windows on the west side, and a large 4-light window, with a central transome
and brick hood-mould over, in each gable, with a small circular slatted window
above. Adjoining the east wall of the building, and extending southwards, is
a 2-storey range with internal chimney-stack and windows with cast-iron
diamond-paned casements, built on as a school house, but now used as part of
the school premises.
