GV II
Former farmhouse. Late C16. Renovated 1985. Timber framed and plastered,
roof of concrete pantiles. 3-cell, cross-entry type. 2 storeys. 4 windows,
mid C20 3-light casements without glazing bars. Mid C20 half-glazed door,
gabled hood. Internal stack with plain oblong shaft, probably original.
Interior. Modernised, with some studding exposed on upper floor. Tie beam at
left gable end has mortices for large diamond mullions. Cambered tie beam
over hall chamber. Hall has chamfered-joist ceiling with mutilated bridging
beam; against the cross-passage are the muntins of a plank and muntin
partition. Adjacent service end was originally divided into 3 rooms: axially
along the bridging beam, with a further division in the front half. Parlour
has open fireplace with evidence for lining of the brick joints. Roof much
rebuilt mid C20. Partial medieval moat.
