4/6 Montalbo, including

railings along frontage

GV II

House, early C19. Timber-framed and roughcast. Machine-made plaintiled roof.
An internal end chimney to left, the lower shaft of red brick and the upper
part of gault brick. 2 storeys. 3 windows. Small-pane sashes. 6-panelled
entrance door. Good entablature: open moulded pediment, cornice and fluted
half-round pilasters. The doorway is off-centre, suggesting a possible
earlier core. Attached are cast iron mid C19 gates and railings on a low wall
of gault brick with weathered cast iron copings. Spear-head standards at lm
intervals support two horizontal rails. Attached to each standard is a pair
of brackets of vinescroll form. Shorter standards are at mid-span.
