5/69 Harding Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C16 - early C17, and early C19. Brick, early work in
English bond, facade roughcast, tiled roof. Two-storey and attic
3-bays C19 front block, extended left by 1 bay later C19, and
replacing end bay of 3-bay C16 house at right angles, now with side
extension and through corridor. Late C19 dairy and kitchen. Early
building with centre bay broken forward, openings altered, now with
French windows and timber casement windows. Early C19 facade with
central 5-panel door and fanlight and tripartite timber windows
with segmental heads. Major stack to rear of 3rd bay, belonging to
early building, 50 mm brick with rendered stack and 6 clustered
shafts.
Interior: Central stair hall to C19 work, stone fluted fireplaces.
First floor has moulded late C16 stone fireplace. Five-bay butt
purlin roof apparently earlier than stack.
