5/23 No 2 and front garden wall
GV II
House. c1840. Flemish brickwork with slate roof. Two storeys, 3
bays. Central stair hall plan 2 rooms deep. Raised brick quoins.
Central 6-panelled door with radial fanlight within arched opening,
and wrought iron porch with swept lead roof. Sixteen-paned sashes
with gauged brick lintels. Boxed eaves. Roof hipped with two
brick stacks to walls between front and rear rooms.
Interior has contemporary fire surrounds to front reception rooms.
Front garden wall also in Flemish brickwork with stone coping,
centre and end line rusticated limestone piers, and in between,
iron arrowhead railings with dog rails, and matching central gate
with arch brace and decorative hanging and meeting styles. Wall
returns to elevation.
