A pair of houses of equal elevation to No 44, but divided from it by a
passageway leading to Middle Rank. Probably late C18/early C19. 3 storeys
plus basement. Ashlar front. Pantiled roof with end chimney-stacks,
not at apex of gables which have saddle-stones. String-course over ground-floor.
4 windows (in pairs) to each side. Sashes, glazing bars to No 43 only.
Paired doorways in centre. 6-panel door to No 42, 4-panel door to No
43. Plinth with basement windows, blocked to No 43.
Nos 38 to 49 (consec) form a group.
