GV II

House. Late C17 with possible earlier origins, with C20 alterations and
additions. Coursed limestone rubble with some ironstone, plain-tile roofs, brick
ridge and end stacks on stone bases. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. Wing to right
facing Bengal Lane has 4-panel door with wood lintel and C20 timber porch and
leaded side-light to right. A 2-light casement window to left with chamfered
wood lintel; 3-light casement to first floor with boxed wood lintel. Part of the
walling of this wing is banded with ironstone and may be older. Lower 2-storey,
one-window, extension to right. Projecting wing to left has 3-light leaded
casements to ground floor, similar window to first floor gable end, 2-light
casement above and first floor rear (left side), all with wood lintels; small
square blocked window with chamfered ironstone surround to first floor left
side. This wing has quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Interior:
stop-chamfered spine beam, open fireplace with replacement bressumer and moulded
Tudor-arched stone fireplace.
