Walled garden c.1840, alterations and pergola 1904 by Lutyens. Garden walls
brick internally and roughly-squared stone externally, tooled and margined
dressings; slate roofs; wrought-iron gates. Rectangular garden with northern
angles rounded. Lower south wall flanked by tall battered piers with moulded
caps and ball finials; gateways with square piers and ball finials at centre
and towards ends of wall; 13-bay pergola with round and square piers built
onto wall left of central gate Towards north end of each side wall a round-
headed chamfered arch set in a corniced projection; decorative openwork wrought-
iron gates. Ancillary outbuildings attached to north wall include pent gardener's
cottage and gabled store buildings at ends. Blocked flues in former heated
section.
