The reputed house of the Mother of Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell. A crazy C16-17 building. Timber-framed, brick and plaster. Tiled roof. Two storeys. Left end of first floor oversails with close-set studding and floor joists are exposed, under which is four-centred arched wooden doorway. To right timber-framed with large plaster panels, ground floor painted brick, small gabled dormer with fire insurance plaque. Modern one, two and five-light casements with leaded panes. County of Sussex Archaeological Collection Vol XIV and NMR.
