House and cottage attached to east, c.1790, thought to have been designed by
the owner, Richard Lambert. Early C19 set-back left link, incorporating older
building,to early C19 gardener's cottage. Ashlar;hipped slate roofs, 2 ashlar
ridge stacks, link with 2 stepped ashlar ridge stacks. Ornamental cast-iron
brackets to gutters. Main block 2 storeys, 3 bays and slightly recessed narrow
left addition; link of 2 storeys, 4 bays to 2-storey irregular cottage largely
blank on road front. Central 6-panel door with flanking pilasters and cornice
head under wide fanlight with renewed radial pattern, the whole in elliptical-
arched recess. 6-panelled doors with oblong fanlights in corniced stone porch
to link, 6-panel door in return of main block addition. Recessed 6-pane sashes
of differing sizes except for renewed 12-pane sash to right of main door and
blind window to left. Garden front 2 storeys, 4 irregular bays: ground floor
tall casements with blind cases, 3rd forming French window, 1st floor 6-pane
sashes. Link to right has brick wall heightened in ashlar, various openings,
to far right cottage set further back, various openings.Interior has contemporary
honeysuckle and acanthus frieze in drawing room, plain stair with moulded and
wreathed handrail and second similar stair in link. Some minor late C17 or
early C18 features in link.
