3/28 Pigeon Cottage
GV II
House. C17, extended C20. Colourwashed limestone rubble with wooden lintels;
thatch roof with partly-rebuilt brick ridge stack. 3-unit lobby-entry plan. One
storey plus attic. Front is largely obscured by C20 extension but has a
converted doorway to right of centre and, in the right bay, a 3-light casement.
Rear has irregular casements, mostly altered or renewed, plus a rounded stair
projection (almost in line with the stack), which retains a small window. Left
gable wall has windows to ground floor, attic and loft. Interior: large
back-to-back open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, inglenook and bread
oven; chamfered beams; spiral stair; clasped-purlin roof with ridge beams. C20
extension is not of special architectural interest. Included for group value.
