GV II
Dovecote. C16/C17. Limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings; plain-tile roof.
Circular plan. 2 storeys. Entrance has a Tudor-arched chamfered stone surround
set below a pointed rubble relieving arch; the ancient plank door has a heavy
chamfered frame. Conical roof has 2 gabled dormers, and bears a wrought-iron
weathervane. Interior: walls are lined with stone nesting boxes; renewed first
floor is supported on a massive circular rubble pier; C18/C19 roof structure;
shaft and support for a revolving ladder.
