Mill (including Millers
House)
GV II
Mill and millhouse, now house. C18, possibly partly earlier, converted C20.
Coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels; Stonesfield-slate roof with
rebuilt brick stacks. T-plan house with attached mill. 2 storeys plus attics.
2-window front of house has the doorway to right of centre between large sashes,
6 panes wide, and has 12-pane sashes at first floor, all with chamfered lintels.
Mill extending to left appears largely rebuilt, with C20 casements and the
present main entrance, but incorporates a carved stone head. Roof has stacks
flanking each section plus gabled C20 dormers. Datestone on house gable noted as
inscribed 1799. Single-storey bay to right. Rear and rear wing have further old
casements and sashes. Mill race passes beneath segmental arches; here is
visible a cast-iron and wood wheel, with paddles missing.
