7/4 Heathfield Cottage

GV II

House, early C16 or late C15, timber framed and plastered with gabled peg tile
roof with central ridge line stack. Single storey timber framed and plastered,
probably C17 long range to W with peg tile roof gabled against main block and
hip on W end with lean-to on N side. Front has 2 C19 3 light casement windows
on each floor and C20 gabled porch. C19 bargeboards on gable ends. Interior
reveals former long wall jetty to N side and structure of parlour/solar bay,
hall bay, and narrower cross passage with screen of arch braced 'speres'. Good
quality frame with crownpost roof and chamfered bridging joists. Floor joists
are soffit tennoned. Low range has jowled storey posts and is probably C17
service wing.
