TG 22 SW BRAMPTON OXNEAD

6/3 Oxnead Water Mill.

II

Water mill. Dated 1851 on west facade. Limewashed brick with pantiled roofs
(corrugated iron roof over north bay). Four storeys. Scattered fenestration
of iron framed sashes and fixed lights with glazing bars in segmental-headed
openings. Originally a three gabled facade, the northern gables missing. Central
gable with weatherboarded panel, indicating position of lucam, now demolished.
Lucam opening on north side blocked in brickwork. Central door openings on
east and west sides, west door flanked by blank openings. Door openings at
first and second floor levels on east side. To the south, a one-storey brick
and pantile wheel house containing iron undershot water wheel and later turbine.
Intermediate floors supported on iron columns and plain-chamfered timber posts.
Original butt-purlin roof structure over centre section only.
