TG 12 NE BLICKLING

4/4 Fountain, approx. 50m
east of Blickling Hall

GV II

Garden fountain. Late C16/early C17. Limestone. Hexagonal central shaft
with consoles below bowl on three faces. Three scroll-topped buttresses with
drapery folds and head-spouts. Three gadrooned bowls between buttresses;
circular gadrooned top bowl, probably later. All set in a circular pool.
The fountain was acquired from Oxnead Hall c.1731 by the first Earl of
Buckinghamshire, it was moved to its present position during the re-
organisation of the gardens in 1872. Ref: "Blickling Hall" The National Trust
