House. C16, altered in C17. Timber frame with painted brick infill (some
in herringbone pattern) and steep thatched roof. A 1½ storeys house
facing N set back from road, with 2 equal bays, large external chimney
at W gable, and small internal E gable chimney. 2 windows front with
door into LH room. 3-light C19 flush casement windows and plank door.
Exposed frame has jowled posts, mid-height rail, widely-spaced studs,
thin straight tension braces above rail at corners, and clasped-purlin
roof with collar. 2 recessed dormers at eaves. The front windows cut
through the mid-height rail and suggest the floor was inserted into a
formerly single storey house.
