17/138 Garden Cottage

GV II

Stables, now cottage. Late C17 with later additions and alterations. Roughly
coursed limestone and marlstone rubble; concrete tile roof with coped verges,
slates to rear. One storey and attic. Gabled full dormers with ball finials to
left and right have 2-light chamfered mullion windows with dripstones. Boarded
door with rectangular barred overlight to left retains C17 dripstones from
former window or doorway; infilled chamfered doorway with inserted C20 casement
to centre and C20 window with wood lintel to right. C20 brick integral end
stacks. Lower C19 range attached to left. Probably the former rectory stables
(q.v. under Kingham House). Included for group value.
