Early C19. Formerly the Lion Hotel, a noted coaching inn. Stucco; 3 storeys; 3
sash windows, the outers in moulded dog-eared architraves, and the central featured
with segmental pediment on Ionic columns, and tympanum with garland decoration;
plain eaves; tiles. Later Classical style bank front with Greek Doric pilaster door-
case at centre with cornice hood; plain frieze and moulded cornice at 1st floor.
Covered yard entrance on right-hand side. Interior much altered. Includes 2-
windowed wing on left-hand side with modern shop front, which is No 57.
