Farmhouse. Mid-to late C16, extended early C19 with later additions and
alterations. Timber framed, now mainly rendered or roughcast with roughly
coursed limestone rubble to C19 addition; corrugated iron roof to C16 part;
slate roofs, hipped to right, to C19 part. Original house apparently of
2 or 3 framed bays with early C19 double-depth addition to right. 2 storeys.
C16 part: continuously jettied with bressumer concealed by render to front
and by C19 brick lean-to to rear. Bracketed corner post visible to rear
left corner and large square panels (several with wattle and daub infill
evident beneath plaster) exposed to left gable end on ground floor. Two
C20 casements directly below eaves and 2 to ground floor. Carved brackets
to corners and centre beneath overhang; square-shaped posts adjoining are
probably brick. Entrance probably formerly to right below integral brown
brick end stack but no trace now visible. External rubblestone end stack
with C19 brown brick top to left. C19 addition: two 16-paned glazing bar
sashes on each floor, lower left infilled and C20 glazed door inserted.
C19 four-panel door to far left with top panels now glazed. C19 brown brick
integral end stack to right and massive segmental wooden lintel to infilled
opening below. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey
(July 1986) but likely to be of interest.
