Farmhouse, now divided into 2 cottages. Early to mid-C17 with later
additions and alterations, including dated repairs or remodelling of 1819,
1854 and 1916, extended to right early to mid-C20. Timber framed with
rendered wattle and daub infill (roughcast to front) on rubblestone plinth,
higher to left and continued to left gable end; slate roof. One storey
and attic; original house of 3 framed bays. Irregular fenestration;
C19 casements to left and immediately to right of boarded door under C19
gabled timber hood, C20 casement to right of C17 part and contemporary
metal casement to C20 extension; 3 gabled dormers breaking eaves, 2 to
left C19 and one to right C20. Datestones "R/1916" and "R/1854" above
left and centre windows respectively with inscription "B/1819" to gable
of centre dormer. Framing: exposed to back wall; square and rectangular
panels, 2 from high cill to wall-plate. Large external lateral rubblestone
stacks with red brick shafts to left and right. C19 rubblestone lean-
to to left gable end. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of
resurvey (July 1986) but No. 8 [left part of building (empty at time of
resurvey)] noted as having chamfered spine beams and heavy joists; corner
fireplaces. h
