5/4 Farmbuildings adjoining
Bowman Hill Farmhouse
to north-east

Barn and cow houses. C18 with mid- to late C19 alterations and additions.
Coursed grey sandstone rubble and red brick, partly rebuilt; and extended
in uncoursed grey sandstone rubble with dark brown brick dressings;
plain tile roof. North-west front: central pair of large boarded doors,
segmental-headed boarded door to left, and flight of external stone
steps up to boarded probably granary door to right; lean-to C19 addition
to left with stable door in return. Left-hand gable end rebuilt in
late C19 with segmental-headed loft opening. Rear (south-east front)
has various segmental-headed doorways, pair of later raking stone buttresses,
C19 external brick stack, and C20 brick addition. Interior of barn
has timber cross-frames with tension braces, central posts, and trusses
with raking struts.
