Cottage, formerly row of 3. Early C19, modifield. Local stone cut and squared, rendered at East end; thatched, with
half hipped gables; octagonal brick chimney stacks with mitred angles; 2 storeys, 4 bays. Casement windows with leaded
lights; to bay 1 a 4-light below and 3-lights above, both with segmental arched heads; to bay 2 a 1+2+1 light flat
roofed bay window below and 2-light casement with gauged brickwork flat arch above: C20 boarded door in recess spanned
by timber lintol to bay 3, above which is a 2 light window set into the rendering: 4-light casements to bay 4, the
lower with toplights. Thatched single-storey-with-attic extension on West gable; the attic window an early C19 leaded
casement. Interior not seen. Newtown is a planned layout, of c1818, with originally some 80 thatched cottages: it is
said to have originated as a vote-catching scheme.
