Milestone. C19. Portland stone pillar, cast iron plaque. Pillar about
420mm wide x 110mm thick x 450mm high, with segmental curved top:
plaque about 420mm x 260mm deep overall, with segmental curved top and
semi-circular drop, reading 'Crewkerne (on curve)/2/Lyme/14' - a pattern
of plate only found in the Crewkerne area. This road was part of the
acknowledged Wells to Dorchester route (0gilby, 1675). and was turnpiked
in 1765 by the Crewkerne Trust under their first Act.
