ST02SW ASHBRITTLE CP

5/9 Waldrons Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17 enlargement of late-medieval dwelling. Red sandstone random
rubble, string course, coped gables, external stone stack right with buttresses.
2 storeys, 5 bays; C20 4-light casements, C20 2-light casement to left of
central gabled porch. Latter slightly jettied out on wooden corbels, 4-centred
arch doorway, moulded jambs with runouts, C20 door, carved angel on gable.
Interior not viewed, (see Report by E. Williams, Venaculer History Group
February 1973 (unpublished) County Record Office). Reputedly a late medieval
hall house, with jointed cruck trusses, modernized in C17, chamfered beams with
runout stops.
