Good mid-Victorian Gothic house set diagonally on a prominent corner site with
Wellington Road. 2 storeys plus attics. Red brick with alternating yellow bricks
to voussoirs, ashlar dressings. Symmetrical composition with 2 gabled wings to
each front, the inner wings set back. Stone cappings, finials and carved heads
to kneelers on gables (one with brick stack). Decorative patterned tile roof,
eaves with brackets. Weathered stringcourse and plinth. Small oriel on outer
corner of building with carved cornice and corbel: 2nd oriel to right with traceried
central light. Windows under west gables are recessed under tall pointed strainer
arches. Large openwork ashlar balconies to 1st floor windows facing west, that
under left gable supported by projecting bay, that to right on elaborate curved
brackets. Windows mostly grouped lancets with deep mouldings, those in west front
with shafts and foliage capitals, oculi in spandrels of projecting bay. Windows
in south front to right are paired with traceried heads. Entrance through pointed
archway with carved imposts under 2 storey porch in south front. Low modern extension
to right is not included. Important end building of the terraces running east
to St John's Church.

All the listed buildings in Park Street (except St Paul's House form a group together
with Nos 2 to 18 (even) Wellington Road.
