GV II

Former farmhouse, now house. Late C16 or early C17 lobby entrance
house refronted in mid C19 with 1911 crosswing added to right
hand side. Timber framed building, refronted in stucco but tile
hung on painted brick ground floor to sides and rear. Pegtiled
roof with 2 brick chimneystacks. 1911 wing of stucco and brick
with half-hipped timber framed gable not of special interest.
Front of original wing 2 storeys 3 windows. Mainly 16-pane sashes
(except for 12-pane central window) with cambered heads and
horns. Roughcast and tiled central porch of 1911. Ribbed brick
chimneystack in centre, recapped c1911. Rear elevation has 2
gables, the left side longer and with a gabled infill block
(probably of C18 date) in the angle between the 2. Irregular
fenestration, some mid C19 sashes, some early C20 3-light
casements. Right hand gable attic has wooden loading door and
hoist arm. Lean-to extension to right hand side. Brick to left
hand side inscribed "E DAY 1911" and other bricks "A DAY", "W
DAY" and "J DAY". Both ground and 1st floor has cross beams with
chamfered or unchamfered floor joists. Open fireplaces. Late C18
6-panelled door. Roof has through purlins with collar beam and
diagonal tension braces. Pegged rafters without ridgepiece. Late
C16 or early C17 floorboards and 3 plank door with wooden hatch
and pintle hinges.
