Milepost. Iron. Late C19/early C20. Square in shape with painted white
lettering on black. Inscribed: GJC CO MARKET HARBORO 5½ MILES LEICESTER 18 MILES
BRAUNSTON 27½ MILES. On reverse side inscribed: LONDON AND LANCASHIRE ELECTRICAL
AND GEN ENGINEERING CO LIMITED LONDON. Grand Union Canal, engineered by Benjamin
Bevan, completed in 1814.
