14/105 Round House Farm
II
Former folly, now farmhouse, partly ruined. Late C18. Coursed
limestone rubble with facetted pantile roof and central stone
stack. Octagonal plan. Single storey with attics, single bays
to each side. In the sides are 3 cross mullioned glazing bar
windows with flat arches. There are also 2 panelled doors with
wooden lintels. One dormer remains, originally with 2 light
sliding glazing bar sash and rendered cheeks. Interior retains
planked doors, cast iron fire range in wooden surround with
segmental head and mantleshelf over. Turning stair with facetted
newel and sunken dairy. Windows have panelled shutters.
Possibly designed as a landscape ornament for the Earls of
Ancaster.
