Description


BOLINGBROKE BACK LANE TF 36 SE (north side) 5/27 Bolingbroke House 3.2.67 II Former rectory, now house. With C18 rear, refronted c.1840. By Rev. Bosanquet. Yellow brick and red brick, ashlar dressings, slate roofs behind stone battlements. Central 3 storey semi- octagonal bay with 4 panel door in eared stone surround, with cornice. First floor stone corbels to slightly projecting chimney stacks on canted sides of bay. Octagonal dentillated stacks. Glazing bar sashes to ground and first floor with rusticated splayed lintels with fluted keystones. To second floor a central margin light sash, with smaller glazing bar sashes to canted sides, all with splayed brick arches. Similar 2 storey wings have centres segmentally bowed and a glazing bar sash to each floor. Right hand side front has 2 storey canted bay window of 6 lights with ribbed mullions. Full height glazing bar sash windows, the first floor is canted out on brackets. Rear wing is C18 2 storey red brick with brick band and corbelled eaves. Interior has stick baluster stair with wreathed mahogany handrail and domed lantern light over the stairs. Flat stair arch with pilasters.
