44/1403 Elephant Hotel
and Restaurant

House, now public house. Early C19, with resited date stone
of 1772 and some details of 1930's. Roughcast, with slate
roof. 3 storeys and 4 bays, 1st bay recessed and of 2
storeys. 1st floor sill band, top frieze and cornice.
Ground floor has 5 light window with colonnettes with fluted
capitals and small paned casements; 1st bay has casement
windows. Windows to 1st and 2nd floors are sashed with
glazing bars and shutters, central 1st floor window has
pediment. 2 entrances flanking 5-light window have ramped
upper angles to flat surrounds, that to the left now window,
that to right has 1930's overlight. 3 1st floor windows
have 1930's iron balconies, the central one with elephant's
head beneath left return similar. Central entrance in
curved recess with semi-circular porch. Columns with fluted
