II

Non-conformist church. 1871. Designed by R Church. Brick, yellow to facade, with
red and white brick and stone dressings. Slate roof to parapet. Entrance facade
of 3 bays, beneath pediment. Paired central entrances beneath gables, round-headed
arches with shafted jambs. Rose window above entrance, set in round-headed arch.
Round arched windows to right and left, each of 2-lights with cuspless bar tracing
and broad transom part way up. Traceried oculus to pediment. Pilaster strips
between bays rising to projecting cornice. Round-headed windows to body of church,
between pilaster strips. Interior with west gallery. Wide arched recess to wall
opposite entrance, flanked by arches, coved ceiling. Tile mosaic, probably by
Doultons. Some of furnishings removed to allow for community use.
