Theatre, now commercial premises, Circa 1860. Painted stone or stucco. Balustraded attic.
Italianate style. 4 storeys, 4 bays. Arched ground floor windows and arched
entrance to second bay from right. Portrait roundels to spandrels. First floor
continuous round headed arcade; second and third floor windows paired in arched
reveals with portrait roundels between (including Queen Victoria and Prince
Albert). C20 casement windows except to ground floor left hand side, where 2
bays remain of orginal glazing with arched metal glazing bars. Modillion
cornice. Decorative capitals with naturalistic foliage to each stage. Built as a
Shakespearian Theatre.
