Police Court. 1912-13 by J.D. Butler. Portland stone, slate roof. Restrained Free
Classicism. 3 storeys and basement. 7 bays wide. Tall ground floor channelled with
flanking side entrances and central enclosed porch with archivolted entrance.
Semicircular arched ground floor windows, 3 grouped each side of porch in segmental
bows. Upper storeys, flanked by Ionic pilasters, have paired windows in carved
architraves. Cornice and crowning balustrade with ball finialed dies and central
pedestal carved with Royal Arms. Interior retains 3 reset late C18 chimneypieces, 2
of white marble with green marble inlay and the 3rd of wood and compo.
