House. c.1830. Hammer-dressed watershot stone with graduated
stone slate roof. Double-depth plan with 2-storey front, 3-
storey rear and a textile workshop on the top floor. Central
8-panel door with overlight, rusticated surround and keystone
lintel. Similar taking-in door on first floor. 5 and 3-light
windows to either side on the ground floor and 5 and 6-light
on the first floor : all have recessed flat-faced stone
mullions. Plain stone eaves gutter brackets, coped gables and
gable chimney stacks. 1, 2 and 3-light windows to gables. The
rear has sash windows to either side of a central door on the
ground floor; 3, 1 and 4-light windows on the first floor and
a 17-light workshop window on the second. Remnants of hand-
written notes (accounts etc.) remain on the walls of the
workshop level. Many original doors shutters and other
fittings retain the character of a wealthy clothiers' house.
