2. Originally Sir Roger Manwood's Grammar School, now 2 private houses. Dated 1564 in iron letters, forming the dogs of beams behind, on the front of the house. Restored in 1892. Thin yellow brick, 2 storeys and attic. Seven windows, 5 dormers with crow-stepped gables terminating in small octagonal shafts. (The finials now missing). Parapet between the gables. The original windows exist in the gables in lead lights. Moulded labels still remain over the windows in the gables and the 1st floor. Sash windows inserted on the 1st floor. Sash windows inserted on the 1st floor, glazing bars intact, and one small bay at the east end. Modern windows on the ground floor. C19 ground floor projection towards the east end, with porch in front of it having a shaped gable. The east and west walls have 2 chimney breasts, each with half a stepped gable on the outer sides of these and a pointed gable of the house between the chimney breasts, these pointed gables terminating in the same small round shafts as the dormers of the main front.
