Group of gates to the west of the house.
1. At end of main drive up to entrance front. 4 C18 gate piers, reputedly
from the Pre-Fire House of Parliament. 2 ashlar piers, with banded
rustication and top cornices. Surrounded by pedestals supporting globe on brackets with 4 globes projecting and small upper oblisk. 2 smaller outer
piers with cornice, pyramidal pedestal and globe. Tall iron gates in centre
with over-throw and spearhead railings. Railings beyond outer piers reputed
to be copies of altar rails of various North Italian Cathedrals.
2. 3 further sets of gates, wrought iron with standards and over-throw, to
west, south and north of the main gates. Probably C19 in date.
3. 1 highly decorated. set of wrought iron gates. Reputedly from Eltham
Palace, definitely later C17 to south of main gates, leading to garden at
south of house. Standards and over-throw.
