House, C17th, altered, with later barn. Sandstone rubble with stone slate
roof. Originally end baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys. Left-hand part of
facade projects forwards. On the ground floor it has a 2-light window with
plain stone surround and flat-faced mullion. On the 1st floor are 2
windows with plain reveals, the right-hand one larger. To the right is a
wide single-storey gabled porch which cuts across a window with
architrave, leaving one light to its left which is sashed with glazing
bars. On the 1st floor is a window with plain reveals. The porch has a
door with plain reveals. At the apex of its roof is the carved head and
shoulders of a man, probably re-set from elsewhere, but its oriqin is
unknown. To the right is a bay of later date which has windows with plain
reveals, the ground-floor one with concrete lintel and sill. Further right
is a wide barn entrance whose segmental arch has tooling of early C19th
type. At the right are a window and a door, both with plain reveals.
Chimney in line with right-hand side of porch. Inside, the room entered
from the front door has a chamfered firehood bressumer with spere, 2
chamfered axial main joists, and a C18th spice cupboard door with 2 raised
and fielded panels. The barn has hardwood trusses with tie beams and
collars.
